The Day of Textile Industry Worker is celebrated annually in the Kyrgyz Republic on the second Sunday of June. This year the Legprom Association with the support Programme of “Trade Promotion in the Kyrgyz Republic” implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and financed by the Government of Switzerland conducted series of events associated with the professional holiday.

Thus, the eighth annual industry Job Vacancy Fair of “Workforce for Textile and Clothing Industry – 2018” was arranged on 5 June. The main aim of the Fair was to create a platform for employment of students and graduates in operating textile and clothing enterprises of Kyrgyzstan. The students and graduates of five universities, colleges and four vocational schools of Kyrgyzstan took part in the fair – altogether around 200 people, representatives of educational institutions training the workforce for the textile industry. The graduates were informed about working conditions, career growth opportunities offered by potential employers.

The managers of 23 industry enterprises in need of the workforce, skilled professionals were also invited to attend the fair. The employers interviewed the graduates and offered them internship opportunities with subsequent employment in their companies.

Within the framework of the job fair, there was also a fair-exhibition “Day of the Light Industry Worker of the Kyrgyzstan-2018.” The idea of holding a fair in honor of a professional holiday was born in 2015, when the Legprom Association celebrated its 10th anniversary. The objectives of this event are to present the companies of Kyrgyzstan working in the light industry and the fashion industry; create conditions to promote seasonal goods; to provide enterprises working in the fashion market with the possibility of direct contact with potential buyers.

Approximately 30 domestic garment, textile, artisan enterprises participated in the fair, as well as representatives of foreign companies from Uzbekistan and India, who presented textile products, clothes, etc. Domestic companies signed contracts with regional representatives of outlets.

“We produce all-season women’s shoes,” says Nikolay Troeglazov, the company «NIKO.KG», and for us it is very important to be constantly involved in such events. Our production is small, but we are focused on expanding and plan to participate in international exhibitions. Therefore, experience is always needed. Thanks to the organizers for the fair, this is an excellent opportunity for direct contact with the buyer. »

On June 6, in the building of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic, a solemn event was held dedicated to the professional holiday, which was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Committee of Trade Unions, associations and other organizations.
